El Rayo | Plata & Reposado
I've loved Mexican culture since university, where I studied the country's history and film. When I reached out to El Rayo Tequila on a whim, hoping to expand my 3D portfolio, I wasn't expecting to land several briefs from them.
Starting in 2022, I've concepted, storyboarded and delivered renders that respond to El Rayo's beautiful branding and creative outlook. Their two tequilas, Plata and Reposado, have distinct colourways, which I wanted to lean on in my initial renders.
During this project, I learnt about embossing and texturing small details for the labels. I used Cinema 4D and Octane Renderer for the rendering. I also worked on my planning and pre-production as much of the art direction was in my hands. Below are a couple of mood boards I made for the client.
The brief outside of presenting the product, was to hero El Rayo's signature cocktail, the tequila and tonic, grapefruit as a serving garnish, and the blue agave, tequila's key ingredient.
